WHAT IS TAE KWON DO?
Tae Kwon Do is the art of hand and foot fighting. It is an ancient Korean Martial art that has evolved into
a modern international Olympic sport. Through training, one can achieve harmony of mind and body,
physical and mental discipline, self-control, self confidence, humility, reduction of stress and the training
in un-armed self-defense. For individuals who enjoy sports, it provides the opportunity to participate in
local, Regional, State, National, International and Olympic competitions.
SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
This school is founded on the traditional Tae Kwon Do values of patience, love, respect and humility.
Patience: Students are taught to be patient with each other and that with patience comes understanding.
Love: Students are taught that with patience that brings understanding, one learns to love. Love
of friends, family and adversaries is one of the fundamental school philosophies.
Respect: Respect for the Master and senior students and also for all living things as well, is an
important principle of Tae Kwon Do.
Humility: As students become successful in their efforts at the school and in life, they are taught to
remain humble, letting their deeds speak for them.
THE BENEFITS OF TAE KWON DO
Self Discipline:
Tae Kwon Do is deeply rooted in the positive development of proper respect for oneself and
others. It is a mentally and physically demanding art however, the student who regularly
attends class will experience a marked improvement in all areas of his/her activities.
Self Confidence:
Tae Kwon Do is a serious and functional method of self defense. The student will become
more physically confident, as he/she masters the challenges of training, and this will lead to
an overall increase in the ability of the student to overcome obstacles in life.
Personal Achievement:
The mental and emotional discipline instilled through study and practice of Tae Kwon Do is
a definite benefit to the student who may currently be an under achiever. The school may
require the student to submit a copy of their report card as part of the application for belt
rank promotion.
Health:
Tae Kwon Do is physically demanding. Improved weight control, cardiovascular conditioning,
and muscle tone are benefits derived from consistent training.
